OpenArt Launches “One-Click Story” Tool for AI-Generated Videos
August 8, 2025
AI-generated “brain rot” videos — often featuring bizarre characters like a sneaker-wearing shark or a cappuccino-headed ballerina — are surging in popularity, especially among younger audiences. One company at the center of this trend is OpenArt, a startup founded in 2022 by two former Google employees, which now reports around 3 million monthly active users.

The company has introduced a new feature, One-Click Story, now in open beta. It allows users to turn a sentence, script, or even a song into a one-minute video with a clear story arc. These can range from lighthearted TikTok content to explainer videos or even music videos for YouTube. OpenArt also sees potential for use in advertising.

Users can pick from three templates — Character Vlog, Music Video, or Explainer. For a Character Vlog, creators upload an image of their character and enter a prompt. If they upload a song, the software interprets the lyrics and generates matching visuals — such as showing flowers blooming for nature-themed lyrics. The storyboard editor allows fine-tuning by adjusting prompts for individual clips.

OpenArt’s platform integrates over 50 AI models, including DALLE-3, GPT, Imagen, Flux Kontext, and Stable Diffusion, giving creators flexibility in choosing their preferred tools. The goal is to make AI video creation more accessible while maintaining creative quality.

Intellectual Property Concerns
The new tool has already raised questions about intellectual property rights, especially when users generate content featuring well-known characters like Pikachu, SpongeBob, or Super Mario. While OpenArt’s models are designed to reject copyrighted characters, the system isn’t foolproof. The company says it’s open to working with rights holders to secure licenses.

Copyright infringement can lead to videos being removed from platforms and, in some cases, legal action. Users may face liability if they knowingly post infringing content.

A Focus on Character Consistency
One feature OpenArt claims sets it apart is maintaining character consistency across an entire video — a challenge for many AI models, which often generate mismatched visuals. The company plans to expand the tool to allow conversations between multiple characters and is also developing a mobile app.

The startup has raised $5 million from Basis Set Ventures and DCM Ventures, is cash-flow positive, and is on track for an annual revenue run rate exceeding $20 million.
